This lively restaurant offers a warm and inviting atmosphere perfect for everything from casual lunches to celebratory dinners, making it a favored destination among locals and visitors alike. Whether you're seated at the bustling bar during happy hour or at a cozy table overlooking SE 1st Street, the energy is consistently welcoming and upbeat.
The menu at Harry's is a treasure trove of Southern seafood classics and inventive dishes that delight the palate at every turn. Guests rave over signature highlights like the Fried Green Tomatoes, crisp and tangy with a perfect balance, and the Shrimp & Scallop Orleans, bursting with bold, authentic Cajun spices. For a richer, heartier experience, the Andouille Crusted Grouper and Harry's Signature Crab Cakes stand out — both executed with impeccable freshness, allowing the delicate flavors of quality seafood to shine through with every bite.
The restaurant’s playful nod to Southern street food can be savored through their signature handhelds such as the Jazzy Chicken Tacos, where crispy fried chicken bites are tossed in a spicy sriracha aioli and harmoniously paired with fresh pico de gallo and blended cheeses. The Shrimp Po’ Boy offers a mouthwatering crunch on French bread, dressed with cool, crisp lettuce, tomato, and pico, transporting diners directly to a Gulf Coast marketplace.
No visit would be complete without indulging in dessert, where Harry's brilliantly combines familiar comforts with flavorful twists. The Key Lime Pie, served cool and refreshing, is a standout, boasting their personal recipe that’s both tart and creamy. Equally decadent are the Oreo Beignets — six classic Oreo cookies fried to light, fluffy perfection and drizzled with white chocolate bourbon sauce and chocolate syrup, a luxurious finale that will satisfy any sweet tooth.
Patrons consistently commend Harry's for its superb service and vibrant, friendly ambiance. One guest highlighted the attentive care provided by the staff, noting how their server’s warm professionalism elevated their evening. Another reviewer praised the generous portions and value, emphasizing the distinct flavors in dishes like Shrimp & Grits and Honey Bourbon Glazed Salmon. The restaurant also shines with its Bourbon Street favorites — from Chicken N Grits with a creamy tasso ham sauce to the iconic Jambalaya and Red Beans & Rice with smoked sausage — each delivering the rich, soulful taste of Louisiana’s culinary heritage.
While a rare misstep was noted with a raw grouper steak, it’s clear that Harry's dedication to freshness and quality typically wins the day. Many diners attest to the consistently fresh and delicious offerings, often returning for the perfectly cooked seafood, vibrant flavors, and the overall joyful dining experience.
Whether you’re craving the zest and heat of Cajun spices, the comforting allure of Southern staples, or just a relaxed spot to enjoy expertly crafted cocktails like their refreshing mojitos, Harry’s Seafood Bar & Grille delivers an authentic and memorable meal. For those visiting Gainesville, this restaurant is a must-try — a place where every bite tells a story of rich culinary tradition and every gathering feels like a celebration.

I always enjoyed the food at Harry’s Seafood Grille. It’s delicious and always fresh . I celebrated my birthday last night in this restaurant with my husband . I ordered Crab cake and oh boy you can taste the crab on it in every bite . My husband has Shrimp and Scallop Evangeline and it’s delicious as well , the fried calamari and the she crab soup are awesome . You have to try this once you plan to dine at Harry’s.
Will return! Great price for portions provided. We ordered the Shrimp & Grits, Honey Bourbon Glazed Salmon and the Shrimp Fettuccine. The brown sauce on Shrimp & Grits was different, but ended up being good. Salmon and Fettuccine were very good! The Louisiana Fondeau was awesome!!!
I had a mixed experience during my recent visit. On the positive side, the service was absolutely excellent. Our server, Erica, was warm, attentive, and professional throughout the evening. She handled a difficult situation with grace and did everything she could to make things right. Unfortunately, the main issue was with the food — specifically the grouper steak. It was served completely raw. I brought it to their attention, and they kindly replaced it without hesitation. However, the second attempt was also undercooked, which was disappointing. To their credit, Erica quickly involved the manager. They were very apologetic and offered to remove the fish from the bill, provided us with a complimentary dessert, and even a round of beer on the house. Their handling of the complaint was commendable, but the kitchen definitely needs to address its quality control.
I miss eating gumbo, this place does not disappoint! Shrimp and grits were very good. My wife and I also shared the calamari- very tender, not overcooked. The dipping sauce is a pop of flavor, and the filler of adding fried fresh green beans, great contrast idea. The Grouper was tasty as well, add the beans and rice to make you feel like Louisiana is in the air! The surprise for us = they were willing to try and make a bourbon milk punch, and then gave it to my wife on the house! Who does that any more?! The other surprise is their own brand of hot sauce- i plan to order a gallon on line! My opinion = better flavor than Crystal AND Tobasco! (May the Nawlins gods not reject me!) Best part of the experience was our server and her trainee! Malyn is a fine example of a professional and sales person! We took the key lime pie to go; fantastic by the way. Giving 5 stars is a rarity for us... Next time I am in Florida, I'm going to Harry's, you should too+
Great atmosphere, food, and people. Would highly recommend the visit for anyone passing through Gainesville. Harry's has a great happy hour if you are looking for a nice bartender and great people to talk to while you enjoy a drink or meal at the bar. As far as cost, it was what is to be expected for an upscale restaurant. However come between 2 and 7 to enjoy happy hour and it'd discounts! The shrimp tacos and redbeans and rice are phenomenal! Based on what I was looking for, these were the recomendations from the bartender, Nolan, and he was spot on. I will definitely be back on my next trip.
This place is crazy good, WOW! Everything we tried down to the bread and butter were delicious. The price and portions were more than fair, we even had left overs. The bill came out just over $100 for 4 drinks, 1 appetizer, 2 entrees, and 1 dessert. We can't wait to go back to try more on their menu.
OMG what a wonderful restaurant. We stop in Gainesville and had the best dinners ever. We had the Seared Tuna, the Baked Scallops, and the filet Steak dinners, the calamari and two different desserts. The food was so delicious we would drive two hours away to eat here. And the atmosphere was so beautiful. Our server was awesome so friendly.
Delicious food with nice portion size at a good price. Had the calamari and the etouffee and it was delicious. Loved the fried green beans mixed into the calamari. Service was great and they were pretty visit when we visited as a result of a nearby festival. Only drawback was street parking which is typical of any city location but was worse during this visit because of the festival.
